Therapeutic Approaches I Use
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT is centered around understanding the relationship between your thoughts, feelings and behaviors to help change maladaptive behavior for the better. Cognitive behavioral therapists focus on identifying and modifying your dysfunctional/negative thought patterns for you to see positive change in the identified negatively impacted areas of your life. Clients with anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder historically see the most beneficial outcomes from CBT.
Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
SFBT is goal-directed and brief. There is an intentional focus on the specific goals you want to achieve for a rewarding future, as opposed to focusing on your perceived problems in the present. Therapists utilizing SFBT help you identify and activate your strengths, as well as your untapped resources. They also highlight your successful management of obstacles in the past to encourage and empower you in the present. Youth and young adults experiencing short-term difficulties with transitioning into new stages of life historically see the most beneficial outcomes from SFBT.
